Tax talk gets tricky

Tax talk gets tricky

Lawmakers and the Patrick administration could have adopted a sunset clause, even base it on certain economic indicators, that would have at least signaled to taxpayers that they weren’t interested in a permanent solution to a temporary fiscal crisis. But they instead went for a straight-up tax hike, with nary a thought given to ever reversing it.

And in Massachusetts - no matter what Murray may say - rolling back taxes is as easy as unringing a bell. Taxpayers ought to pay close attention to what this administration does instead of what it says.
